Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy plays an important role in patient rehabilitation, helping the person reacquire skills they possessed before their injury or illness.

The Centre’s occupational therapists undertake retraining of patients and their families or carers in daily activities such as dressing, feeding and personal hygiene. The aim is to restore patients’ ability to care for themselves independently, to learn alternative ways to deal with their impairment, as well as methods of ergonomic organisation suitable for their personal or professional spaces.

The occupational therapy area contains an organised replication of the home space and enables patients to relearn everyday activities. In addition, there is an area devoted to rehabilitation of patients with cognitive impairments, where use is made of specially designed computer programs. These programs aim to improve:

  • memory
  • focus of attention
  • perception
  • concentration
